Life is a Wiper

Life is a wiper, we sometimes get stuck. Nothing can beat the experience of a life time that this very special day of my brother had offered me and my theology 121 group mates (LBM Micab, Racer Chris, and Doña Ping). Kamay Ni Hesus Healing Ministry would really mean another “jologs” folk Catholicism practice among Filipinos. But, it was a very wrong script. Father Angelo and Father EJ enlightened me about the cause that their institution has been fighting for. The common notion of faith healing among most “matapobre pinoys” is very much different to a Healing Mass. As the two main words of the term suggests, it is indeed healing within the mass. Healing does not only refer to the somatic illnesses that ever deteriorated man’s health. Healing refers to a lot of things – spiritual, emotional, and etc. Moreover, we are reminded of the fact that priests like Fads AJ, EJ, and Joey, are only mere instruments of the true and only one healer, JESUS himself. We come to the healing mass not only for petitions but also in the spirit of thanksgiving. We kneel down and raise our hands up high, not only for ourselves but for all our dearly beloved. We climb the more than 260 steps to nourish our bodies and to remind ourselves that whatever sickness that is afflicted on to us, we will soon finish the battle and find Jesus as the living cure for all the depression. And a lot more on reflections will soon come into mind for the next coming days we lay our hands on this demanding but fulfilling project.

Why wiper? That’s the second part of the adventure. As we (excluding Doña Ping and escorts) set forth to Manila for the much needed rest, heavy rain poured down. It was raining cats and dogs. Hence, Chris took more caution while he drives Micab’s Suzuki auto. The heavy rain made us wear eyeglasses having extremely the wrong grade. We surely could see the road and all the cars ahead and before us. At an outskirt of Pagsanjan, the wipers suddenly got stuck. It was a trauma. Turn on the hazard lights! We then, parked on the dirt road and fixed the wipers. Oh yes, let’s continue the journey. After a few seconds, gerund! Stuck wipers again. Nothing to see. We’re so dead. All the while we thought that the NPA will cause the end of our earthly existence but no! Give it up for the rain! A round of applause for Micab’s wipers! Finally, Chris decided to simply raise the right wiper since it’s of less importance for a driver’s view. To our surprise, give it up for the wind! Strong winds caused the raised wiper to fall back and then we have two wipers stuck again. Alas! We really can’t see a thing! The next thing we saw were funeral cars. An ambulance followed. And yes, we get the message- a very good joke. Not until Los Baños that we finally could say that we are driving a safe ride. We only figured out the right solution at that instance Micab called his mom. Tensions finally wear off. We found ourselves more comfortable knowing that our lives would not end in a tragic car accident.

*Sighs* Micab and Chris, a lot of thank you for the great ride.

Life is a wiper, we sometimes get stuck.

still solving life's unbalanced chemical equation.....
